Thanks to Trinity Alumna Marilyn Franklin (BA ’91 MBA ’09) who is a member of the Presidential Inauguration Committee in DC, Trinity participated in the National Day of Service on Saturday, January 19, 2013 that is part of the weekend observance of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as well as the second inauguration of President Barack Obama.  We were so pleased to be able to host hundreds of volunteers from area churches and nonprofit organizations who donated and sorted thousands of canned goods and other food items that went to DC area food banks.  The video clip below shows just some of the photos we were able to download overnight, more will be on the Trinity website later.

Many thanks to the Presidential Inaugural Committee, Trinity students and staff especially Vice President Ann Pauley, Dean Meechie Bowie, Sr. Mary Ellen Dow, Chief Adrienne Murphy and the security team, Andres Marin and the Facilities Team, and so many others who made Trinity shine on this service day!

Trinity is also hosting the D.C. National Guard troops at the Trinity Center for several overnights as they work on keeping everyone safe during the inauguration.  Please join me in thanking these women and men for putting their lives on the line and devoting so much of their time and effort to our security.
