Founders Day 2013: Student, Faculty and Staff Picnic

What a perfect day for a picnic! Students, faculty, and staff were treated to a special picnic lunch on the main lawn in celebration of Founders Day.

Founders Day 2013: Maypole Dance

As a special part of Founders Day, senior class members participated in the annual Maypole Dance in Seymour Court, wrapping the pole with ribbons. Underclassmen then attempted to unwrap the pole. The seniors created a special tribute to thank the administration and their professors by decorating the pond in Seymour Court with rubber ducks that were named after Trinity professors.

Founders Day 2013: Honors Convocation in Notre Dame Chapel

After two years of renovation, the Notre Dame Chapel reopened on Founders Day. Sr. Camilla Burns, S.N.D. ’60 gave a special presentation on the significance of Founders Day and the Sisters of Notre Dame. After Sr. Burns’ presentation, the Honor Convocation was held, which honors all senior honor society inductees, Dean’s list recipients, and Trinity scholars.

Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth visits Trinity on Tuesday, April 23. More than 240 students, faculty and staff packed Social Hall to hear Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth – it was standing room only!

Phi Beta Kappa Induction Ceremony on Monday, April 22.

Congratulations to Trinity's members of Phi Betta Kappa who were inducted on Monday, April 22. The PBK Chapter was established in 1971 - it was one of the goals of Sr. Margaret Claydon '45 when she was president to establish a chapter - and she did! Trinity became the 188th PBK chapter; now there are 280. We inducted Sr. Margaret as a member a few yeas ago. Trinity alumna Gina Perovich, '94 was the featured speaker.

A Celebration of the Life and Mission of Sr. Dorothy Stang S.N.D.

The Campus Ministry Student Spirituality Advisory Board sponsored the event "A Celebration of the Life & Mission of Sr. Dorothy Stang, S.N.D." Sr. Dorothy Stang was killed in Brazil for her justice work for the people of the Amazon. View the trailer below for the award-winning movie about her life, work and death.

2013 Clothesline Project

As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month Trinity's Women's Student Action Coalition organized the Annual Clothesline Project to raise awareness about violence against women. The project was held on April 9 and 10, 2013.

Sower's Seed Lecture

Dr. Nicole V. Lang, M.D. ’89 spoke to a packed room for the Eighth Annual Sowers’ Seed Lecture on Thursday, March 21. Dr. Lang is a board certified physician; a tireless advocate for literacy, children and the disabled; Assistant Professor of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, GWU School of Medicine; and Vice Chair, Trinity Board of Trustees.

Congratulations to the School of Professional Studies undergraduate Dean's List students who earned at least a 3.5 GPA in the Fall 2012 semester! They were honored at a special Dean's List Ceremony on Thursday, March 14.

What an amazing turnout for the Trinity Women Through the Ages symposium, featuring accomplished Trinity women who shared their insights and valuable advice with current students and alumnae and alumni.

Alternative Spring Break

Seven students and members of Trinity’s Campus Ministry Office traveled to Selma, Alabama during spring break the first week of March to help rehab, paint, and beautify homes for the people of Selma. Along with serving the students experienced the history and landmarks of the Civil Rights movement. They traveled the roads of the famous march from Selma to Montgomery and visited the Rosa Parks Museum in Montgomery, Alabama. The Alternative Spring Break to Selma is an annual service trip organized by the Trinity Campus Ministry Office.
