Trinity Parking Rules, Regulations and Processes
Revised and Reissued August, 2006
Upon issuance of a parking permit, students, faculty and staff agree to comply with the regulations set forth herein:
Parking on Campus
In order to park in University owned/controlled property, all students, faculty and staff must register their vehicle(s) with the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and obtain the appropriate parking permit. Students, faculty, staff and visitors are required to display a valid University parking permit (or visitor's pass) at all times when parked on University owned or controlled property, to include reserved and handicap parking spaces. Note: possession of a valid parking permit does not necessarily guarantee a parking space. Parking is on a first come, first served basis. Adequate parking space is available; however, during peak traffic times parking lots and spaces closest to the buildings fill up quickly .
Accessing the Campus
The University allows access to the campus by way of the Main Front Circle (Michigan Ave.) and the Cuvilly Drive Lot. In the interest of maintaining consistent levels of campus safety and security, DPS Officers at the campus access points cannot authorize access to faculty and staff who fail to display (1) a valid parking permit, and (2) a valid University issued ID . University issued IDs and parking permits that do not have a current (year/date) validation sticker are rendered invalid. Faculty, students and staff who are driving an unregistered vehicle, or have forgotten their (un-affixed) parking permit must obtain a temporary parking pass from the DPS.
Failure to present your valid University issued ID may delay your entry onto the campus. Please help the DPS to serve you better by ensuring that you have both of the following, at all times, upon entering the campus:
- A valid University issued ID (with current year/date validation sticker)
- A valid parking permit (with current year/date validation sticker)
Registering your Vehicle
The following are required to register your vehicle with the DPS:
- Trinity ID
- Valid state driver's license
- Valid motor vehicle registration card (for each vehicle registered with DPS)
Students Only: (a) receipt of payment and (b) current year/date validation sticker affixed to your University ID (both issued by the Business Office)
Parking Permit Placement
Parking hangtag permits are designed to hang from the rear view mirror. Without exception, and for the purpose of immediate identification, parking permits should be displayed from the rear view mirror with the permit clearly visible through the front windshield to ensure maximum visibility and expeditious traffic flow upon entering campus access points.
Handicapped Parking
Parking spaces designated for the handicapped are exclusively intended for use by vehicles displaying a valid handicapped permit/pl ate (i.e. dash card, hangtag or license plate). Handicapped permits/plates are issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles (by jurisdiction). All vehicles displaying a valid handicapped parking permit/plate on University owned or controlled property are required to display a valid Trinity parking permit (or visitor's pass) in conjunction with the handicapped permit. Note: if displaying both a handicapped permit and a University permit (affixed to a hangtag) from the rearview mirror, the information printed on the handicapped permit should be visible through the front windshield; the University permit should hang directly behind the handicapped permit and face the rear of the vehicle so that the permit remains unobstructed and visible. Handicapped permits/plates do not authorize the user to park illegally .
Visitor Parking Pass
All visitors parked on University owned/controlled property are required to register their vehicle with the DPS and secure a temporary visitor's parking pass for display on the vehicle dashboard. Visitors may register their vehicles at the Main Building Reception Desk (1 st floor lobby) or the DPS Communications Center ( Main Building , Room B-8). Limited short term parking is available at the Main Circle Drive and the Cuvilly Drive Lot exclusively for this purpose. Visitors include (but not limited to) those individuals not currently enrolled at, compensated by, or employed as an affiliate of Trinity.
- Visitor parking passes must be prominently displayed and clearly visible from the vehicle dashboard at all times while parked on University owned/controlled property.
- Any alteration the visitor's parking pass renders the pass invalid.
- Visitor parking passes are valid in visitor designated parking areas only, unless otherwise indicated on the visitor pass.
- Faculty and staff expecting large quantities of visitors/vehicles on campus should provide advance notice (5 days whenever possible) to the DPS in order for special accommodations to be arranged.
Service Representative Pass
Returning contractors and vendors who provide services on University owned/controlled property must obtain a Service Rep pass, free of charge, from the DPS. Service Rep parking passes must be prominently displayed and clearly visible from the vehicle dashboard at all times while parked on University owned/controlled property. Contractors and vendors who provide services for the University are bound by the parking rules, regulations and processes defined herein.
Parking Restrictions and Enforcement
Parking regulations are enforced 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, year round, in accordance with p arking and traffic control signage and asphalt/curb markings. The DPS reserves the right to immediately tow vehicles from areas that pose a threat to public safety (i.e. fire lane, fire hydrant, roadways, traffic lane); this includes the right to restrict access or redirect traffic and/or parking without notice. Parking is not permitted in locations that obstruct traffic or block driveways, doorways, loading docks, manhole covers, building sprinkler connections, etc. Unauthorized vehicles parked in areas with barricades, traffic cones, or temporary signage restrictions (i.e.: construction or special events) are subject to a parking citation and may be towed at the owner's or operator's expense. The University retains the right to reserve parking in areas owned or leased by the University to support special activities.

Parking is available to all University students, staff, faculty and visitors, baring a valid parking permit (or visitor pass), and in accordance with the following lot/area designations. Note: Trinity assumes no responsibility for any motor vehicle or its contents while parked on University owned/controlled property.

Lost, Stolen or Destroyed Permits
Immediately report lost stolen or destroyed parking permits to the DPS. Replacement permits will only be issued upon the completion of a DPS incident report and a $15.00 replacement fee will apply (receipt of payment from Business Office required).
Multiple Vehicles
Your single hangtag permit may be used with up to two vehicles; however, you must register both vehicles that you will use the hangtag permit with in accordance with the instructions outlined in bullet # 3. Requests to register more than two vehicles with DPS will require the purchase of an additional hangtag at the cost of $15.00; members of the Trinity community may not register more than four vehicles. Note: vehicles displaying a hangtag permit that does match the vehicle(s) registered with DPS may be subject to a citation and the permit holder will be responsible for any associated fees. Without exception, hangtag permits cannot be shared with anyone other than the registered permit holder and may only be used for the vehicle(s) registered to the permit. Fraudulent use or misuse of a parking permit may result in loss of parking privileges on campus.
General Information
Parking permits issued by Trinity remain the property of the University and must be returned to the DPS upon separation from the institution.
Parking permits are valid through the printed expiration date.
