Sower's Seed Lecture Series

Established by Kelly Snider Dunn '64 and her family, the Sower's Seed Program highlights alumnae who have incorporated the Catholic traditions of service and social justice that are central to the Trinity experience into their lives. The mission and teachings of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur are our most special gift at Trinity, and through the generosity of the Sower's Seed Fund we are able to share these with new generations of Trinity students.

Our inaugural speaker, Marie Dennis '64, shared her story of work with the Maryknoll organization, and her years of advocacy for some of the world's most impoverished populations. Last year, Sharon Lamont Charde, also a member of the Class of 1964, brought a story that is closer to home. Sharon has spent many years conducting writing workshops with incarcerated teenage girls in Connecticut. Her talk at Trinity, along with writing workshops for students and community partners over several days, was truly inspirational and resonated deeply with today's students. The presentation culminated with a poetry slam in which Trinity students shared writings that were both very spiritual and insightful.

Inspiring Lives of Service

This lecture series plants seeds of perspective, inspiration, and invitation as we explore the experiences of Trinity graduates who have led lives in the service of others.

Each, in their own way, has confronted issues of injustice and utilized their education and their talents to make a difference. By sharing their stories, Trinity alumnae hope to expand the horizon of possibilities and to invite further consideration of ways to work together for a better world.

This lecture was made possible by The Sower's Seed, a fund that was established by Kelly Snider Dunn, class of 1964, to support the vision that was instilled in her as a student at Trinity: a sense of commitment to serving God by responding to the problems and needs of the world.
