Trinity in Washington, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, seeks a Vice President for Finance and Administration, the chief financial officer of the university. This vice president manages all financial functions as well as supervises
the non-academic operations. Reporting directly to the president, the vice president oversees staff and processes for all budgeting and accounting, purchasing, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, banking relationships, investments and bond management. Working with the controller, the vice president supervises all audit and compliance functions for Trinity’s independent auditors and external agencies. The vice president also manages Trinity’s auxiliary enterprises and contracts for facilities management, food service and other outsourced functions as well as internally managed operations.
With a major construction project on the horizon, the vice president must have significant experience as well in capital finance for building projects, as well as new construction management. The vice president will be Trinity’s primary liaison with all contractors on the project.
Candidates must present at least 8-10 years of increasingly responsible experience in higher education finance and operations management. Trinity will consider candidates from private industry with equivalent experience. While operations experience is important, financial experience is essential, and candidates should have a CPA or equivalent experience in accounting. A baccalaureate degree is required, MBA or related master’s degree preferred.
