Getting Started

How do I apply for Housing?
The Application for Campus Housing and a $200 deposit must be submitted before a space in the residence halls will be assigned. Although room assignments are selected and requested by students, Trinity retains the right to assign and re-assign rooms when such is deemed necessary by the Office of Campus Housing.

When will I receive my housing assignment/roommate information?
Housing assignments and roommate contact information are mailed out in mid July. In your letter you will also receive your campus mailing address, student email, items to bring, prohibited items and helpful packing tips (campus phone and mailbox information will be given during move-in.) Please contact your roommate to discuss what items to bring (i.e. TV, DVD, stereo, fridge etc.) Space in rooms is limited; therefore, two of everything may limit living space and function.

   When is the move-in date?
New Students: Saturday, August 15, 2009, 8am – 5pm is the move-in date for the Fall 2009 academic semester. This information will also be found in your assignment letter. Room Features

Returning Students: Sunday, August 23, 2009, 8am – 5pm is the move-in date for the Fall 2009 academic semester.

Roommate Information

Each resident applicant receives a Housing Profile Sheet which lists her preferences. This is used to match residents together. It's important that students take the time to answer all questions honestly and accurately in order for us to make the best matches. We make a special effort to keep all first year residents together. Each first year resident will have one roommate.

What if I don’t get along with my roommate?
The best way to get off on the right foot and minimize conflicts is to be positive, keep an open mind and understand great roommates DO NOT have to be best friends!

When placing residents together, we are looking to pair students who can maintain civility and respect based on some basic lifestyle similarities. At move-in, begin your living relationship with an open discussion on what makes you comfortable. Guests, music, sharing and cleanliness to name a few are topics to discuss and agree upon. Living on campus and sharing a room teaches you understanding, respect and appreciation for diversity.
We have provided a resource to aid in your success. Please familiarize yourself with this agreement prior to moving into the residence halls and be prepared to discuss:

If we don’t get along, can I move?
If you find you are not getting along with your roommate, we ask that

  1. Communication between roommates occurs first, in an effort to rectify the problem. If after that conversation, roommates cannot work their problems out
  2. Speak with your Resident Coordinator/Resident Director about mediation. If mediation is unsuccessful, see Resident Director about a room change. Room changes ARE NOT permitted until September 2, 2009.

What type of meal plan do I have?
All students residing on campus must be on one of the University’s meal plans.  Changes in choice of the meal plan will be accepted until the last day for schedule adjustments each semester. All first year students are required to be on the 19 meal plan during their first year.

What’s in my room and residence hall? Will I have cable/Internet?
All rooms have internet, phone and IPTV cable access. All you need is to have an Ethernet card in your computer and an Ethernet cord to connect your computer to the network, a TV and a personal phone.

Computers: Most new computers already have Ethernet cards installed in them. Also, most lounges in the residence halls have internet access as well by Ethernet cord. Laptops can be ideal as you have the ability to get online in cyber café areas and labs throughout campus by WiFi. If you have additional questions please contact us at residencelife@trinitydc.edu.

Phone: You will need to bring your own phone. When you move in, you will receive a campus phone number. All rooms have free local calling service and voicemail. Additional information may be given upon your arrival.

IPTV/Cable: Trinity offers IPTV Cable access. The unique program offers the following channels (PDF) Also, because it’s unique to Trinity, the community has the option of accessing cable both by TV and computer. Lastly, please look for important Trinity information and important news flashes as an IPTV feature as well. Please bring a cable cord for TV access.
