Haiti and Caribbean Projects Established at Trinity Two academic and scholarly projects now reside on Trinity's campus, under the leadership of Dr. Robert Maguire, director of international affairs - the Haiti Program and the Caribbean project. The Rockefeller Foundation awarded Trinity a $100,000 grant to support its new Haiti Project, headed by Maguire. The Trinity College Haiti Program provides accurate, up-to-date, and insightful information and analysis to individuals and organizations involved in current Haitian political, economic and social issues. The Haiti Program is hosting eight seminars, usually off-the-record and by invitation only for members of the Haiti Study Group, to address contemporary political, economic and social issues. To complement its seminars and symposia, the Haiti Program will also publish two briefing papers on current issues along with two Haiti information circulars. All published materials will be posted on the Haiti Program's website, which is linked to Trinity's website. The Caribbean Project, which had been based at Georgetown University, is now a Trinity program, and is supported by the Ford Foundation. The Caribbean Project provides U.S. policy makers with information and perspectives on the region that they do not usually encounter, and facilitates communication and dissemination of information among a broad array of actors concerning regional issues. The project has a particular focus and expertise in Cuba. A Visiting Fulbright Scholar will join the program in the fall. Both projects bring academic distinction to Trinity, as well as grants from two major foundations.
