New Senior Administrators Join Trinity

The Trinity community has welcomed two vice presidents and an academic dean to the College's senior management team. "We are absolutely delighted to bring a high caliber of talent to support Trinity's growth and strategic plan," said President Patricia McGuire. "These three outstanding women have the vision and experience to lead Trinity's effort in three important areas - teacher preparation, marketing and admissions, and finances."

Dr. Suellen Harris was named dean of Trinity's School of Education, and brings to the position more than 30 years of experience as a teacher and school leader. Most recently, she was deputy superintendent of schools in Prince George's County. She will oversee Trinity's historic teacher education programs serving schools and teachers throughout the Washington region.

Harris earned her bachelor's degree from Oakland University in Michigan, and her master's from Nazareth College in New York. She began her educational career in Pittsford, New York, where she served as an elementary school teacher. Later assignments took her to Oklahoma, where she taught special education while pursuing her Ph.D. at the University of Oklahoma, and then to California where she began her career in school leadership, serving as district superintendent of the Roseville City School District in 1986. In 1993 she returned to the east coast to become the superintendent of schools for the Cape Henlopen School District in Lewes, Delaware. She joined Prince George's County as the deputy superintendent for curriculum and instruction in 1999.

Linda Kirby is Trinity's vice president for marketing and admissions, a new position that emphasizes a comprehensive and integrated approach to recruitment and marketing. Kirby brings to the position more than fifteen years of admissions experience, and comes to Trinity from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, where she was dean of graduate admissions. She is a graduate of Marist College and holds a master's degree in education from Sacred Heart. As vice president, she is responsible for overseeing the management of all marketing, recruiting and admissions programs for Trinity's three schools, and working closely with the deans and faculty to align programs and markets more adeptly than ever before.

Most recently, Barbara Lettiere was named Trinity's vice president for financial affairs. Lettiere is an outstanding financial manager who brings a new kind of background to Trinity. Since 1974, she has held increasingly responsible positions with the Bell Atlantic Corporation. She became vice president and finance controller of the Bell Atlantic Corporation, and most recently served as president of the Federal Systems division of the Bell Atlantic Corporation.

Lettiere is a graduate of Immaculata College in Philadelphia. She earned a master's in economics and statistics at the University of Notre Dame, and her M.B.A. at Rider College, where she is now a trustee. She is also a CPA.

Beginning this academic year, Dr. Saundra Oyewole, professor of biology and dean of the faculty, will continue to be a member of the senior administration when she becomes dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. She moves into the position that had been held by Dr. Lori Shpunt '69, who is returning to the faculty full-time as professor of English. Both Oyewole and Shpunt have been members of Trinity's faculty for more than 20 years.
