Reunion 2006
Reunion Highlighted by a Special Celebration in the Trinity Center
More than 400 alumnae gathered on Trinity’s campus in June for Reunion, renewing friendships, meeting students and learning about Trinity today. This year’s Reunion featured a special celebration in the Trinity Center for Women and Girls in Sports, during which the Trinity Center donor recognition plaques were officially dedicated. In a “Salute to the Legacy of Trinity Women,” President McGuire paid tribute to generations of women and families who have generously supported Trinity throughout its history.
President McGuire thanked Trinity alumnae for their generosity during the Centennial Campaign, which supported the creation of the Trinity Center, noting that $9 million of the more than $12 million raised came from alumnae. Many benefactors to the Trinity Center joined the Reunion classes for the special tribute and were recognized for their support.
Alumnae rose in a standing ovation as President McGuire announced the dedication of the basketball arena, the largest space in the Trinity Center, in honor of President Emerita Margaret Claydon, SND, ’45. As Sr. Margaret approached the podium, President McGuire thanked Barbara Bachmann Glynn ’64 and her husband John, whose gift honors the “abiding wisdom and devotion of Sister Margaret and her lifelong work of love and service to Trinity College and her legacy of personal and intellectual inspiration to its students.”
Sr. Margaret was deeply touched by the enthusiastic cheers of Trinity alumnae. In expressing her gratitude for such an honor, she noted that her greatest pleasure was the acknowledgment of the life’s work of all the Sisters of Notre Dame.
