Trinity Magazine
Trinity is the official Alumnae/i magazine of Trinity in Washington, DC. Published four times a year, the magazine chronicles current campus news and updates from our ever-growing community of Trinity graduates.
Fall 2005
Analyzing top-secret information for the CIA or gathering intelligence for the National Geo-Spatial Intelligence Agency may not be the first career paths that come to mind when one thinks of a Trinity graduate. Yet a Trinity education provides an excellent set of skills that is exactly what today’s U.S. intelligence agencies are seeking: a foundation in the liberal arts, excellent writing and verbal skills, the ability to think critically and analytically and strong research skills. Perhaps the most significant dimension of a Trinity education is the commitment to a value-centered education, with a focus on ethics across the curriculum. Who better to work with highly sensitive intelligence information, recommending courses of action for the U.S. around the world than a Trinity graduate who has abided by the Honor Code and has learned how to make ethical choices?
Over the years, a handful of Trinity graduates have pursued intelligence careers at the CIA, FBI and the intelligence units of the military branches. Today, at the invitation of the U.S. Intelligence Community, Trinity is engaged in a curricular initiative designed specifically to prepare students for intelligence careers. This issue of the magazine focuses on the Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence at Trinity, and the study abroad experiences of the students who are participating in the program.
