Letter to Students
March 22, 2002
Congratulations!
According to our Registrar's Office, you have applied
to participate in the Spring 2002 Commencement Ceremony
on Sunday, May 19, 2002. Commencement marks the completion
of the requirements for your degree program as well
as the beginning of the next phase of your life! I am
writing to provide you with as much information as possible
to make this a memorable time for you.
Enclosed are materials designed to assist you in attending
to Commencement-related matters. Included in this packet
you'll find:
Many people on Trinity's staff and faculty are working
diligently to ensure that graduation time is enjoyable
for you and your family. Their efforts will be enhanced
by your cooperation in adhering to dates and deadlines
concerning commencement. To that end, please note the
times for all commencement events and plan to arrive
on time (or even early if you are able).
One of the hallmarks of Commencement time at Trinity
College is that we make every effort to personalize
the ceremony. For example, we take the time to line
graduates up alphabetically and to read through every
graduate's name to ensure correct pronunciation. When
students arrive late for commencement rehearsal, the
entire process is delayed for everyone involved.
Further, your reservation form for commencement will
not be accepted after May 3, 2002. Our catering and
physical plant teams have enormous amount of work to
do to prepare for our myriad commencement activities.
We need to have accurate counts to them by the stated
deadline so that we can accommodate everyone who wants
to attend.
Thank you in advance for your time and attention to
these matters. Please contact Amber Waller at (202)
884-9600 if you have questions regarding commencement-related
events. We look forward to celebrating your accomplishments
with you!
Best regards,
Michele Bowie
