The Centennial Award for Alumnae Leadership
Citation For Kellyanne Fitzpatrick Conway ’89
Most
Powerful....Most Influential...Face to Watch....Woman of Genius....
Such accolades adorn the resume of Kellyanne
Fitzpatrick Conway as testimonials to her many achievements. A 1989
Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Trinity College, Kellyanne has earned a national
reputation as an insightful and incisive commentator on political and
social issues. She is also widely respected as an entrepreneur, the founder
and owner of the polling company, a full service political consulting
and research firm that counts among its clients such well known brands
as Microsoft, Major League Baseball, New York Magazine and the Ladies’
Home Journal.
Prior to entering Trinity in 1985, Kellyanne was well known throughout
her native South Jersey as the New Jersey Blueberry Princess. During her
Trinity years, Kellyanne expanded her horizons, studying in Oxford and
learning the ropes of Washington through her studies as a political science
major, graduating magna cum laude. She entered law school at
George Washington University and received her law degree with honors in
1992.
After clerking for Judge Richard A. Levie and early legal practice with
the firm of Jackson and Campbell, Kellyanne returned to her first love,
politics. She worked for the Luntz Research Companies and the Wirthlin
Group, pollsters for President Reagan and the Republican Party. In 1995
decided to start her own firm, the polling company, whose clients over
the years have included former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former
Vice President Dan Quayle.
Kellyanne soon became a sought-after political commentator, with regular
appearances on CNN’s “Inside Politics,” ABC’s
“Politically Incorrect” and “This Week with Sam and
Cokie,” and a wide variety of other radio and television talk shows.
Early in 2002, the polling company acquired WomanTrend, a research and
consulting firm specializing in research on women and women’s issues.
Among her many awards, Kellyanne has been named one of the “50
Most Powerful Women in Politics” by the Ladies’ Home Journal;
one of “Washington’s Most Influential Conservatives Aged 40
or Younger” by the National Journal; and one of the “30 Most
Powerful People in Generation X” by Swing Magazine.
For her entrepreneurship and leadership in public affairs, Trinity College
is pleased to bestow on Kellyanne Fitzpatrick Conway the Centennial Award
for Alumnae Leadership.
