St. Catherine Medal Awarded to
Ernestine Blango '03
Citation
The St. Catherine Medal is named after Saint Catherine of Alexandria,
a third century woman renowned for her love of learning. She is honored
as the patron of philosophers. This award is given by Kappa Gamma Pi,
the National Catholic College Graduate Honor Society, in order to recognize
an outstanding senior who reflects the ideals of St. Catherine. Trinity
College is a member of Kappa Gamma Pi, and nominates the recipient based
upon a review of the academic, co-curricular and leadership achievements
of candidates.
This year’s recipient has distinguished herself in many ways during
her Trinity years. She has been a campus leader, an outstanding athlete,
a trusted advisor to many students, an excellent scholar as well. She
has her sights set very high, aspiring to a career in law and possibly
public office some day. She has been a resident assistant since her sophomore
year. She has interned with distinguished Trinity alumnae on the bench
and in politics, and she now hangs out with Hillary Clinton. She has held
numerous offices including the high office of Senior Class President.
Please join me in congratulating Ernestine Blango, the recipient of the
St. Catherine Medal.
