| InterFaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington Sponsors Lecture:
“ Millennium Challenges for Faith and Development ”
James D. Wolfensohn, President of the World Bank, will present the Third Annual Richard W. Snowdon Lecture at Trinity College on Tuesday, March 30, 2004. The program, sponsored by the InterFaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington, begins at 7:00 pm with the IFC's 25th Anniversary Recommitment Ceremony.
Mr.Wolfensohn's lecture, "Millennium Challenges for Faith and Development: New Partnerships to Reduce Poverty and Strengthen Conservation," will explore the role of faiths in combating some of the world's greatest problems. According to Mr. Wolfehnsohn, “Religious organizations represent the most elaborate and effective distribution system, reaching into most poor communities around the world. Poor people are part of congregations, and faith leaders interact with them on a daily basis. They bring a wealth of understanding and insight into development debates.”
The program will include:
- Question and answer session with Mr. Wolfensohn after his lecture.
- Three $1,000scholarships provided by the Washington Post for the best essays based on Mr. Wolfensohn's lecture by a high school, undergraduate and graduate school student. Please contact Mike Goggin at 202/234-6300 or mikeg@ifcmw.org for more information and competition regulations.
- Recommitment ceremony to the next 25 years of the vital work of the IFC by diverse religious leaders and founders.

The program begins at 7:00 pm in Notre Dame Chapel on the Trinity College campus,
125 Michigan Avenue, NE, Washington, DC. Trinity is located one block east of North Capitol Street on Michigan Avenue. Free shuttle service to Trinity is available from the Brookland/CUA metro stop on the Red Line (please present your ticket to board the shuttle).
