Trinity Named Bargain
among Area Institutions by Fox News
In an August 12 report on the skyrocketing cost of higher education,
Fox affiliate WTTG named Trinity a rare, affordable exception to
the trend. In contrast to local institutions charging over $40,000
a year, correspondent John Henrehan told viewers, "there is
a bargain…in the District of Columbia. The bargain is Trinity
College."
Trinity's annual cost of less than $24,000 is not merely less than
other area schools. According to the report, Trinity is the least
expensive private, non-profit school in the area, with "tutition,
fees, room, and board [costing] much, much less," than other
institutions.
For several years, the cost of a college degree has risen sharply,
ahead of inflation, leaving graduates tens of thousands of dollars
in debt. Yet in a recent letter to the Trinity community, University
President Patricia A. McGuire wrote that Trinity "tuition increases
over the last ten years have been very low, well under the area
universities…We will continue to work hard to keep tuition
reasonable while providing the services and programs that students
expect."
Located in Washington, D.C., Trinity offers a comprehensive range
of undergraduate and graduate programs for students of all ages,
with a special emphasis on women's education in the College of Arts
and Sciences, and professional development in the coeducational
School of Professional Studies and School of Education.
