1, 2003: This summer, 70 individuals from across the
country will be on Trinity College's campus, learning to be
principals at urban public schools, through an innovative national
initiative, New
Leaders for New Schools.
Trinity is hosting New Leaders for New Schools' summer institute,
which is a seven-week intensive academic program, preceded by
a "technology boot camp" on Trinity's campus.
New Leaders for New Schools has three goals:
To recruit and develop talented, dedicated individuals who
will become successful principals in urban public schools,
and who will provide a strong commitment to the success of
each New Leaders graduate.
To create a pathway for principal recruitment, preparation,
and ongoing support that will serve as a model for school
districts, universities and non-profit organizations.
To provide school districts and charter schools with the
effective school leaders urgently needed to accomplish the
mission of educating all students at high levels.
Trinity College is a comprehensive university in Washington,
