Trinity College will offer a daylong series of observances
to commemorate the anniversary of September 11:
Classes will be held as
scheduled all day with discussions, reflections, and academic
perspectives around September 11 issues. These classes will
be open to the community.
8:30 a.m. :
Prayer service and reflections, Seymour
Court
10 a.m.: Community Reflections,
Social Hall
Small group gatherings to discuss different topics and personal
perspectives on September 11 and the events that have followed.
11 a.m.: Remarks and Discussion,
Social Hall
Dr. Bob Maguire ("Setting the Stage: Reflections on Global
Disparities and The Links with 9/11") and Dr.
Gillian Clissold ("Post September 11 Diplomacy: A Missed
Opportunity to Move Beyond the 'Ugly American' Syndrome")
will lead a full group discussion of issues related to the impact
of September 11 on the role of the U.S. internationally.
Noon: The morning program
in Social Hall will close with a community sing. Dr.
Sharon Shafer has created a special arrangement of "My
Lord, What a Morning!" to reflect on the day.
6:15 p.m.: Candlelight
vigil around the Trinity flagpole to remember and honor
the victims of September 11. Dr. Sharon Shafer will once again
lead us with her original musical composition reflecting on
the day.
7:00 p.m.: Remarks and
Discussion, Social Hall
"September 11 and the Intelligence Community"
Dr.
Lenora Peters-Gant is a special guest at Trinity, a CIA
Scholar in Residence. She is a deputy directory of the CIA for
Community Management. This lecture and discussion will be an
opportunity for the Trinity community to welcome Dr. Peters-Gant.
