Eighth Annual Sowers’ Seed Lecture Featured Trinity Trustee Nicole V. Lang, M.D. ’89

Dr. Nicole V. Lang, M.D. ’89 spoke to a packed room for the Eighth Annual Sowers’ Seed Lecture on Thursday, March 21, 2013. Watch Dr. Lang’s remarks below.

Dr. Lang is a board certified physician; a tireless advocate for literacy, children and the disabled; Assistant Professor of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, GWU School of Medicine; and Vice Chair, Trinity Board of Trustees.

As a student in medical school, Dr. Lang worked in clinics in West Africa. The experience led her to spearhead an international partnership between her medical school and a medical school in Eritrea, East Africa, to promote medical education and residency programs. In addition, Dr. Lang serves on the boards of: Reach Out and Read (ROAR), a national nonprofit that promotes early literacy and school readiness; Lollipop Kids, a foundation that provides hope and support to disabled children and their families; and the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital.

Established by Kelly Snider Dunn ’64 and her family, the Sowers’ Seed program highlights alumnae who have incorporated into their lives the traditions of community service and social justice that are central to the Trinity experience and reflect the Catholic tradition that influences Trinity’s mission. These alumnae are invited to come to campus to share their stories with Trinity students, in the hope that their stories will inspire new generations to consider community service, either as a volunteer or as a career.
