Morgan Carrillo ’13

Morgan Carrillo, MSW, LGSW, is a Foster Care and Adoption Social Worker at the National Center for Children and Families, working to provide trauma informed services to youth and families who have entered foster care in the District of Columbia due to neglect and abuse. She has several years of national and international experience blending policy analysis, crisis intervention, and direct service. Morgan is an established victim advocate and has specialized knowledge in the areas of LGBTQ youth empowerment, gender based violence, and human trafficking. Prior to NCCF, Morgan worked as a Clinical Case Manager at SMYAL, as an Advocate at the National Human Trafficking Hotline, and as an International Programme Associate for Community and Family Services International in Manila, Philippines. She completed a Policy Fellowship at the National Network to End Domestic Violence from 2015-2016, and graduate field work at the Latin American Youth Center from 2014-2015.

Morgan holds a Master of Social Work with a concentration in Social Change from the National Catholic School of Social Service at the Catholic University of America, and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs with a minor in Women’s Studies from Trinity Washington University. She holds licensure as a Social Worker in both the District of Columbia and the State of Maryland. Morgan has conducted research focusing on gender based violence and the empowerment of women and girls; specifically on the topics of conflict related sexual violence, the role of women in peace-building in Mindanao, and reproductive health programming in the Philippines. Her research entitled “Women Centered Interventions to Conflict Related Sexual Violence in Darfur” was accepted to the 2016 Global Awareness Society International Conference in Budapest, Hungary.
