Trinity’s Enrollment is at an All-Time High

October 10, 2008 - President Patricia McGuire announced that Trinity’s fall 2008 enrollment is 1,756 — an all-time high in the history of Trinity. This record enrollment includes 655 students in the historic women’s college, the College of Arts and Sciences.  Another 783 students are enrolled in the School of Professional Studies and 318 in the School of Education.  In total, more than 600 new students joined the Trinity community this fall.  In her Fall 2008 Newsletter, President McGuire noted that “This growth in Trinity’s enrollment is a great affirmation of Trinity’s strong reputation and innovative programming to serve the educational needs of our region.” Continue reading

President McGuire to Speak at Inauguration of Dr. Jane McAuliffe ’68 as President of Bryn Mawr College

September 30, 2008 - President Patricia McGuire will speak at the inauguration ceremony of Trinity graduate and Trustee Dr. Jane Dammen McAuliffe ’68, who will officially become the eighth president of Bryn Mawr College on Saturday, October 4. McAuliffe, who is an internationally known scholar of Islamic studies and was most recently Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Georgetown University, took office on July 1, 2008. August 28, 2008 - In the August 28, 2008 edition of Inside Higher Ed, one of the nation’s leading online higher education news sites, President Patricia McGuire critiques Forbes magazine for its new rankings of colleges and universities.  She writes, “Forbes methodology, like that of U.S. News, reveals a profound bias in favor of wealth and class, and against institutions that have distinctive missions — especially those that serve low income students and significant populations of minority students.” Continue reading

President McGuire Testifies Before Senate Committee on the Impact of the Credit Crunch on Student Loans

April 15, 2008 - Trinity President Patricia McGuire testified before the Senate Banking Committee on April 15, 2008, regarding the impact of the credit crunch on the student loan market and college students. The Committee hearing was convened to address the growing concern regarding the impact of the ongoing credit market crisis on the cost and availability of federally-guaranteed and private student loans.
