Do you have plans for the weekend, besides studying for classes? If you manage to take a study break, then visit the 13th annual Library of Congress National Book Festival on the National Mall. It’s two days of celebrating books, seeing your favorite authors, and other fun literary activities.
The entire schedule for the two day festival is available online, along with a list of when the authors with speak and sign books. As a frequent attender of the National Book Festival, I recommend taking the Metro because parking nearby will be almost impossible. Be sure to arrive early before all the free swag bags are taken and the Book Pavilion line gets too long. Also, to avoid dealing with the Port-o-Potties, use the bathrooms inside one of the Smithsonian museums.
Check out this video of Colson Whitehead from last year’s festival.
