Below are mobile devices that currently have been tested successfully with Trinity’s webmail service. This list will be updated continuously as we evaluate more devices in the future.

Apple iPhone/iPad

  1. Within your Apple iPhone’s web browser, navigate to the URL http://www.trinitydc.edu/cert.cer.
  2. Install the certificate when prompted. Failure to install the certificate will result in synchronization errors!
  3. Navigate to the Settings app.
  4. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars…
  5. Tap Add Account…
  6. Tap Microsoft Exchange.
  7. Input your full Trinity e-mail address. ie – DoeJ@trinitydc.edu
  8. Input the domain: trinity-its
  9. Input your username. ie – DoeJ
  10. Input your password.
  11. If you are staff, input the server address webmail.trinitydc.edu.

BlackBerry Enterprise Service

The following type of BlackBerry access is available for staff or fulltime faculty.

  1. Verify with your mobile provider that you have a BlackBerry Enterprise data plan.
  2. Notify Information Technology Services that you would like your BlackBerry device connected to Trinity’s BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
  3. An e-mail from Technology Services will be sent to your Trinity mailbox with the activation password. This password will be valid for 48 hours.
  4. From the BlackBerry main screen, click Options.
  5. Click on Advanced Options.
  6. Click on Enterprise Activation. If prompted about having an activation password, select Yes.
  7. Input your full Trinity e-mail address. ie – DoeJ@trinitydc.edu
  8. Input the activation password Technology services provided to you via e-mail. If prompted about an Activation Server Address, leave it blank.
  9. Click on the BlackBerry menu button.
  10. Click Activate and wait a few moments for activation.

Android

The following instructions may not be exactly as follows due to the many different models of Android phones available.

Certain Google Android phones (MyTouch, etc.) are not compatible with Trinity’s e-mail servers. ITS suggests downloading TouchDown, by NitroDesk, Inc. for compatibility.

  1. From the main screen, click the Mail app.
  2. Select Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
  3. Select Manual setup.
  4. Input your full Trinity e-mail address. ie – DoeJ@trinitydc.edu
  5. Important: If you are staff, input the server address webmail.trinitydc.edu.
  6. Input the domain: trinity-its
  7. Input your username. ie – DoeJ
  8. Input your password.
  9. Ensure encrypted SSL connection is checked.
  10. Click Next.
  11. Click Finish setup.

Troubleshooting: If you receive the error Cannot create the account, your phone’s built-in e-mail software is not compatible with Trinity’s servers. In the event that you have received this error, ITS suggests downloading 3rd party app TouchDown, by NitroDesk, Inc.

Windows Phone

  1. Within your Windows Phone’s web browser, navigate to the URL http://www.trinitydc.edu/cert.cer.
  2. Install the certificate when prompted. Failure to install the certificate will result in synchronization errors
  3. From the App list, click on Email.
  4. Click Add an account and select Outlook.
  5. Input your full Trinity e-mail address. ie – DoeJ@trinitydc.edu
  6. Input your password.
  7. Tap Sign in.
  8. You will receive a prompt in Outlook which asks you to check your information. Do the following, and then tap Sign in.
    For this field Do this
    Email address Verify that your email address appears correctly.
    Password Tap Show password, and then verify that the password is correct.
    Username Verify that the user name is correct. For example, if your email address is DoeJ@students.trinitydc.edu, you would type DoeJ as your username.

  9. You may receive a message stating settings cannot be found. Tap Advanced, do the following and then tap Sign in.
    • Important: If you are staff, input the server address webmail.trinitydc.edu.
    • Tap Show all settings, and then verify that the Server requires encrypted (SSL) connection setting is checked.
