Disposition: Turned over to DPS Investigations
DPS responded to a report of a theft. Further investigation revealed that a display ring was taken from the display table. There is no suspect information to report. The complainant/vendor stated that the merchandise was not left unattended at any time. The value and description of the property could not be provided by the vendor who was advised to contact DPS with this information as soon as possible. DPS prepared an incident report and will conduct follow up. No additional information to report at this time.

Disposition: Turned over to MPD
DPS and MPD responded to a walk-in complaint from a resident student concerning threats. Further investigation revealed that the student's former boyfriend was placing calls to her cellular phone threatening imminent bodily harm. DPS and MPD prepared incident reports and advised the student to pursue a stay away order. No additional information to report at this time.

Disposition: Closed
DPS responded to a walk-in complaint by a student who reported her handbag stolen. Further investigation revealed that the student reported leaving the bag unattended for a short time before discovering it had gone missing. DPS canvassed the campus and restrooms in the immediate area, with negative results. The student reported that her wallet which was contained in the handbag carried cash, checks, and miscellaneous items. On 9/21/07 the property was recovered and turned into DPS by housekeeping who stated that the bag was located in room 259 Main. A check of the contents showed all property present with the exception of the cash and the metro smart trip and fare cards valued at $55.60. DPS notified DOSS who will initiate contact with the student. No additional information to report at this time.

DPS responded to a walk in complaint from a student resident who reported that she discovered several pieces of her jewelry (estimated at $420.00) missing from her room. According to the complainant, she left her room unsecured and unattended for a period of approximately thirty (30) minutes (between 1130 and 2100 hours) on 9/8/07 and believes that the incident occurred during this time. There is no suspect information to report. DPS prepared an incident report and advised the complainant to contact MPD. DOSS senior staff was notified. No additional information to report at this time.
