Trinity Department of Public Safety Daily Incident & Crime Log - April 2007

Disposition: Turned over to DPS Investigations
DPS responded to a report of a theft. Further investigation revealed that a dining employee reported missing her purse which she left in her personal vehicle from 6 am - 4:30 pm. The complainant stated that the purse was on the floor in the back seat of the vehicle covered with a coat. She further stated that she is unsure whether or not the vehicle was secure because she automatically uses the remote to unlock/lock it. Further, she reports giving her car keys to one of her friends (another dining employee)later in the afternoon so that he could move her car. There were no signs of forced entry/damage to the vehicle and nothing else was disturbed. The complainant later contacted MPD from her residence and a complaint was filed. No additional information to report at this time. Referred to DPS for follow up.

Disposition: Turned over to DPS Investigations
DPS responded to a walk-in complaint regarding a theft. Further investigation revealed that a student resident reported her tote bag stolen from the cyber lounge where she left it unattended for a short period while working across the hallway in B-19. DPS assisted the student in canvassing the area for the bag and/or contents, with negative results. DOSS was notified on behalf of the student because the bag contained the student's room key and residence hall key (Kerby front door). The student reported nothing of value in the bag other than the keys. DPS prepared an incident report. No additional information to report at th this time.
