Trinity Washington University seeks to hire a Laboratory Manager and Chemical Hygiene Officer to support its Science laboratories. Trinity, a comprehensive university that offers undergraduate programming in the Sciences, seeks an individual for this full-time, nine-month position, available immediately.
Reporting to the Assistant Provost for the Sciences and supporting Science faculty while also supervising student workers, the Laboratory Manager will be responsible for preparing materials for teaching lab exercises, and for maintaining clean and safe labs with working equipment in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science. Duties include working collaboratively with faculty to understand their course needs, supervising student workers, keeping inventory and planning ahead, and providing information for purchases. As Chemical Hygiene Officer, the individual will be responsible for chemical waste management, inventory and disposal of chemicals, database for chemical safety data sheets, safety training for faculty/students/adjuncts, safety checks and safety records, and keeping current on regulations and requirements.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field, with appropriate laboratory experience. OSHA course in laboratory safety taken within the last year, or in the first 30 days of employment.
