Assistant Dean of Advising for CAS

 
 

 

Trinity, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, invites applications for an Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) with specific responsibilities for oversight of academic advising.  CAS is Trinity’s historic women’s college.  The assistant dean will work with a team of advisors dedicated to increasing student retention and completion rates through a systematic program of advising and case management to ensure student success.  As the leader of an energetic team committed to targeted advising initiatives, the Assistant Dean will develop and implement a case-management approach that includes direct, consistent, and carefully-designed approaches for a variety of students, such as outreach programs and interventions to assist students in their long-term college success. The Assistant Dean will also assess the overall effectiveness of programs and interventions designed to increase student retention.

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, or counseling or a directly-related field; at least three years of academic, collegiate-level experience, including three years direct experience as an academic advisor with targeted intervention and retention strategies for student success; supervisory experience of professional staff; excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; excellent organization and verbal and written communication skills; and experience with implementing and using research, evaluation, and assessment tools that inform successful university academic advising models, especially at institutions like Trinity. Additionally, he or she will be a motivated self-starter eager for the challenge of working at a growing, mission-based institution.
