Director of Admissions for the College of Arts and Sciences

 
 

Trinity in Washington, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, seeks an experienced admissions professional to join the leadership team for Trinity College of Arts and Sciences, the university’s historic women’s college now enrolling more than 1,000 students in full-time daytime undergraduate programs.  Trinity seeks a senior level manager with high energy, exceptional recruitment and admissions experience, the ability to motivate and mentor a team, and a deep commitment to ensuring educational opportunity for women.  Trinity’s student body is highly diverse; more than 90% of the student body is African American, Latina and international.   Recruiting is largely regional, with most Trinity students from D.C. and the surrounding metropolitan Washington region.

The Director will have primary responsibility for the recruitment and admission of high school and transfer students who wish to attend Trinity full-time daytime undergraduate programs.  This position includes planning and executing strategies and tactics to enroll at least 400 new students in the fall and 125 in the spring.  The successful candidate must have familiarity with strategies and tactics for success in recruitment through enrollment.  S/he will be managing all aspects of recruiting and admissions, e.g., participation in college fairs; all prospect, applicant, and enrollee communications; final review of all case files; awarding of merit scholarship; supervision of and accountability for recruitment staff, management and supervision of on-campus admissions events, and group visits, etc.  The successful candidate will have significant experience managing personnel to achieve goals, will be creative and organized; and will have superior communication skills. Evening and weekend work is sometimes necessary and expected when working toward goals.

Candidates must present at least 5-7  years of progressively responsible admissions experience in a comparable institution, along with a track record of success in recruiting and enrolling students according to goals, and managing staff to achieve results.  Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, are essential.  A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required, master’s preferred.
