Associate Dean of the School of Professional Studies

 
 

Trinity in Washington, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, seeks an outstanding academic manager as the Associate Dean of the School of Professional Studies, Trinity’s school dedicated to the education of working professionals.  As Associate Dean, this academic manager will work directly with the Dean in leading a diverse part- and full- time faculty and staff who teach in Associate’s and Bachelor’s level  programs and in ensuring support for teaching and learning for all students. The Associate Dean will support the Dean in initiatives pertaining to student retention and persistence, faculty personnel management, assessment and the implementation of new undergraduate initiatives.

Trinity’s dynamic university environment provides a unique opportunity for an energetic, dedicated colleague to be a part of transformative education that promotes student success in programs meeting working professionals’ needs, particularly through programming in evenings, weekends, and through hybrid and other emerging technologies.   Trinity today enrolls more than 2,600 students in four academic units.  The School of Professional Studies enrolls more than 900 working professionals in undergraduate and graduate programs.

The ideal candidate should have at least three years of increasingly responsible administrative and executive-level experience in a university setting, including teaching experience in an environment similar to the School’s. The candidate must have an earned terminal degree and will have had direct experience as an administrator in higher education, preferably with special attention to programs focusing on developing success for working student populations.  S/he should be inclusive, collaborative, and collegial, with a keen sense of managing multiple, diverse initiatives, and able to interact with a wide range of individuals representing a variety of backgrounds, whether as educators or as students.  The Associate Dean will bring a strong focus to retaining both students as well as quality instructors who are also practitioners in their fields.   Candidates must demonstrate excellence in writing and oral communication as well as a strong track record in teaching and supporting program development and innovation, especiallybrbr in programs for working professionals.
