Trinity in Washington, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital serving more than 2,600 students and 14,000 alumnae and alumni, seeks an experienced fund raising leader to serve as Associate Vice President for the Capital Campaign. Trinity, an historic Catholic women’s college that is now a diversified university, has launched the Second Century Campaign to with a goal of $30 million.
The Associate Vice President for the Capital Campaign will be responsible for planning and management of all campaign activities, in cooperation with the president and existing development officers, including prospect identification and management, cultivation and solicitation of key prospects, preparation of briefings for the president and trustees who are engaged with campaign solicitations, and engaging in strategic development of campaign communications in cooperation with the Advancement Team led by the Vice President for Advancement. The AVP will be responsible to expand the team of campaign professionals to ensure timely achievement of Trinity’s goals.
Trinity’s team of development officers includes the Associate Vice President for Development who oversees the Annual Fund, major gifts and donor relations, and who manages a portfolio of major gift prospects. Campaign associates on the staff engage in extensive field work with alumnae and friends as well as past benefactors, as well as prospect research for individuals, corporate and foundation sources. The Development staff work closely with the staff of Alumnae Relations as well as the Advancement specialists in communications including print and online.
The top priority of Trinity’s Second Century Campaign is the Trinity Academic Center, an integrated facility that will include new science laboratories, laboratories for the health professions programs, classrooms and other academic spaces. The Second Century Campaign also welcomes significant gifts for scholarships and endowment.
Founded in 1897 as Trinity College in Washington, D.C., Trinity continues today as a diversified university with the historic women’s college still thriving as the undergraduate full-time program, and three coeducational professional schools offering undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Qualifications for the Associate Vice President include at least 8 years of successively responsible experience in collegiate development with strong capital campaign experience. Excellence in writing and oral presentation essential, along with strong management skills, a high degree of organization, and the ability to motivate both staff and volunteers. This is a position that requires travel, work on evenings and weekends on occasion, and complete dedication to achieve the goal.
