Trinity, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in Psychology beginning fall 2012. The applicant will be expected to teach Research Methods, Introductory Psychology, courses in the Human Relations major, which is an interdisciplinary major combining Psychology and Sociology, and other courses in his/her specialty area in conjunction with the department’s and the University’s plans for strategic growth. Psychology and Human Relations are among the University’s fastest-growing majors, along with a master’s degree in Counseling: students enjoy dynamic opportunities to work directly with faculty on research projects as well as to complete internships and practica at a wide range of federal, local, and clinical facilities.
The successful candidate will join a strong team of faculty in Trinity’s historic women’s college, the College of Arts and Sciences. Applicants should have a background in research methods and the ability to mentor students in conducting research.
Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Psychology at the time of appointment (August 2012). The normal teaching load for tenure-track faculty in the College is three courses a semester. Additional responsibilities include student advising. Because of Trinity’s focus on teaching excellence, the successful candidate will have a proven record of outstanding teaching, with at least two years of teaching at the university level desirable.
Applicants should send their curriculum vitae, teaching evaluations, statement of teaching philosophy and three letters of recommendation to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The review of applicants will continue until the position is filled.
