Clare Boothe Luce Professor of Biology
Trinity, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in Biology beginning fall 2012. The successful candidate will be nominated for designation as a Clare Boothe Luce Professor of Biology: the Luce Program guidelines restrict Luce professorships to women who are U.S. citizens or have permanent residency in the U.S. Luce appointments offer qualified candidates exceptional support in teaching and scholarship directly related to teaching and researching in the faculty member’s field.
This position is responsible for undergraduate Biology instruction in Trinity’s women’s college, the College of Arts and Sciences. Candidates should have specific expertise in human anatomy and physiology. The ability to teach pathophysiology or other courses relevant to health professions majors is also highly desirable. In addition to being dedicated and enthusiastic about teaching, applicants must have the ability to integrate and infuse technology into classroom teaching, should be prepared to demonstrate a history of innovative, creative pedagogy, and be willing to pursue professional development opportunities. The normal teaching load is three courses per semester. Additional responsibilities include student advising. While most classes will be taught in the College of Arts and Sciences during the day, some may be taught in the evening or on weekends. A doctorate in biology or a directly related field with at least 18 credit hours in biology (including designated coursework in anatomy or physiology) is required.
Send cover letter, curriculum vitae, transcripts, a statement of teaching philosophy and three letters of recommendation to email@example.com.
Review of applications will continue until an appointment is made.
