Trinity Washington University, a comprehensive university in Washington, DC, seeks an Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) for its Occupational Therapy Assistant Program in the School of Nursing and Health Professions. Reporting directly to the Program Director of the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program within the School of Nursing and Health Professions, the Fieldwork Coordinator will work with multiple clinical or community sites to coordinate fieldwork placements and develop student learning experiences throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area. The position is a full-time faculty appointment with administrative duties. The successful candidate will be an occupational therapy practitioner (OT or OTA) with strong marketing, recruitment, and administrative skills.
The OTA fieldwork coordinator reports to and advises the OTA program director regarding fieldwork education. The coordinator provides leadership and direction regarding ACOTE Accreditation fieldwork requirements; students’ completion of fieldwork expectations for graduation; establishing and maintaining relationships with on-site fieldwork educators; initiating and maintaining currency of fieldwork contracts with hospitals, clinics, schools, and emerging practice sites; documenting student learning outcome assessment data; conducting fieldwork site visits; and collaborating with fieldwork educators to establish fieldwork parameters.
The Academic Fieldwork Coordinator must meet Trinity’s minimum qualifications for teaching at the University as well as those outlined in the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) accreditation standards. The Academic Fieldwork Coordinator must be a licensed OT practitioner (OT or OTA) in the District of Columbia; demonstrate a minimum of 3-5 years experience in the field of occupational therapy with documented expertise in one’s area of OT practice; possess academic and experiential qualifications to meet the mission of the OTA program; demonstrate current knowledge of OT best practice in clinical, community and emerging practice areas; and have completed at least one year of teaching in an institution of higher learning or equivalent experience.
