Trinity, a comprehensive university in Washington, D.C., invites applications for the full-time position of Mathematics Specialist, commencing in fall 2012. The successful candidate will have professional experience in developmental mathematics and mathematics education. Responsibilities of the position include offering dynamic instruction tailored to the needs of variant student populations at Trinity; designing and delivering supplemental instruction sessions to students needing additional support; and playing an active role in assessing both student proficiency and student learning outcomes, using results to improve student placement and retention.
The candidate must possess at least a master’s degree in mathematics education, mathematics, or a related field which could include developmental education. Other requirements of the position include a minimum of two years experience teaching developmental mathematics to at-risk student populations; a successful track record of developing and implementing innovative forms of math instruction; documented examples of math curriculum development and assessment; and knowledge of current and successful developmental education teaching and learning strategies. Candidates will work with University administrators and faculty in delivering courses to students enrolled in Trinity’s School of Professional Studies as well as its College of Arts and Sciences.
