Work Study – Byte Back
BYTE BACK, Inc. is a non-profit organization, which focuses on information literacy skills for the local community. They are located in the community at: 815 Monroe St., NE, Washington, DC, 20017 – (202) 529-3395; www.byteback.org
Who Is Byte Back?
Since its founding in 1997, Byte Back has provided affordable, hands-on computer training. This work enables economically disadvantaged adults to acquire marketable skills — and thus, jobs.
Despite society’s increasing reliance on computers, training for the under- and unemployed is not keeping pace with the demand for workers. Because of this, Byte Back’s training opportunities are more important than ever.
They are looking for student workers to assist them with tutoring and office work, and are conveniently located just across from the Brookland/CUA Metro Station and across the street from the Colonel Brooks Tavern restaurant. There are opportunities for you to work starting in early September.
You must attend a volunteer orientation, which can be scheduled with the Volunteer Coordinator, Zack Kulzer (202) 529-3395. These volunteer orientation sessions are scheduled in the evenings from 6pm-8pm and on Saturdays. You can pick the best time for your schedule. Although this is a paid, work-study position for you, the positions are titled ‘volunteers’.
