Health Insurance Overview
All students must have health insurance while they attend Trinity Washington University. Students must have coverage in the DC area.
Trinity offers to students the following:
- Health Fee. This fee allows students year long access to the Health and Wellness Center which is staffed by Nurse Practitioners and a Counselor. This is meant to act as your primary care provider while you are away from home. Services offered include, but are not limited to: annual well woman exams, sports physicals, gynecological appointments, treatment of colds, flu, urinary tract infections, upper respiratory infection, immunizations, and weight/nutrition counseling. The Counselor helps students manage their stress, anxiety, depression, and a variety of other issues.
- Carefirst Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Insurance. This is a comprehensive major medical plan that provides coverage in the DC Metro area. Coverage begins August 1, 2014 and last until July 31, 2015.
If students are already covered by their parents, employer, or the state a waiver form need to be filled out and information about your health insurance coverage entered into the form. A copy of your insurance card needs to be provided to the Health and Wellness Center. You may either upload this into the waiver form or bring a copy by the Health and Wellness Center.
It is recommended that all students sign up for the Health Fee so that you may access the Health and Wellness Center during your time here at Trinity.
