Dr. Cosier Presents at AERA

April 9, 2014 - Dr. Meghan Cosier, Assistant Professor of Special Education,  presented papers on two research projects related to Disability Studies and teacher preparation at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) annual meeting held in Philadelphia April 4-7. Her research focused on the use of Disability Studies as a way to transform the philosophies and practices of teachers who work with students with disabilities. Continue reading

Dr. Greer to have essay published

March 19, 2014 - Dr. Cynthia Greer, Associate Professor of Counseling and Director of Educating for Change, will have an essay published in the literary magazine, the Little Patuxent Review.  The essay, Doris and the Dolls, is about Dr. Greer’s personal experience with skin color issues  and the impact of the Doll Study that was an integral part of the Supreme court decision on Brown vs. Board of Education. Dr. Haskins honored with 2014 C. Harold McCully Recognition Award

February 28, 2014 - School of Education Director of Counseling programs Dr. Deborah Haskins received the 2014 C. Harold McCully Recognition Award from the District of Columbia Counseling Association (DCCA). This special recognition award was presented at the Annual DCCA Conference on Saturday, March 8th at Gallaudet University. Continue reading
