Happy Belated 4th of July!

fourthLast night, while I was watching A Capitol Fourth, the live concert on the west lawn of the Capitol, I learned that the capitol building itself is celebrating its 150th birthday this year!  I also learned that upon its completion, it was immediatelyCapitol used to house wounded soldiers during the civil war.  Two fascinating facts!

Our city is full of fascinating history and fun facts.  That’s why I love that we have two great history courses focused on our city.  We offer History of the District of Columbia and with our partners at Ford’s Theatre, Civil War Washington, D.C. History.  I don’t know about you, but both courses sound to me like they’d have plenty of great trivia to bring back to your social studies class this coming school year.
