Commencement | Winter 2013 Dean’s Letter

Letter from the Dean

Dear August and December Graduates:

Trinity’s Winter Graduation will take place on Tuesday, January 8, at 5:00 pm in the Trinity Center for Women and Girls in Sports for those students who complete their degrees in August 2012 and December 2012.  Please arrive no later than 4:00 pm to robe for the ceremony. Winter Graduation will include academic regalia and a formal ceremony, but it will be smaller and more intimate than the Commencement ceremony that takes place in May.  Graduates are welcome to invite your families and friends, though seating in the Trinity Center is limited, and you will receive only 10 tickets for your guests.

Please note:  Your participation in Winter Graduation is optional.  If you choose to participate in Winter Graduation, we will read your name and present you with your diploma.  You are also welcome to participate in the May Commencement in your academic regalia, and you will process with your class; however, we will not read your name again and we will not present you with your diploma again.  If receiving your diploma at the May Commencement is important to you, then you can certainly decide to fully participate in the May ceremony, but we will only read your name and present you with a diploma at one ceremony.

Graduates: Tell Us Your News!
Please take a few minutes to complete the online graduation survey.

You are responsible to read and pay attention to all information about the completion of your academic requirements, meeting your financial obligations, and Winter Graduation instructions.  In order to ensure a joyful Winter Graduation, we ask you to take care of your academic and financial obligations well in advance.  Please see the Winter Graduation Checklist for details and deadlines.

I am writing to provide you with as much information as possible to make this a memorable time for you.  Please review the Winter Graduation Checklist and complete the Winter Graduation RSVP Form, which is due Thursday, January 3, 2013.

Please take a few minutes to fill out the Graduation Survey to give us important feedback on your Trinity experience and your future plans.

You will need to purchase your academic regalia at Trinity’s Bookstore beginning Thursday, December 6, during regular hours.  For Winter Graduation, you will need a cap, gown and black tassel, and, for bachelor’s and master’s degrees, a hood.

Beginning the week of December 3, 2012, 10 Graduation announcements and 10 guest tickets will be mailed to you. Please make sure that your correct address is on file in the Enrollment Services Office.

Best regards,

Michele Bowie, Dean of Student Services
