Frequently Asked Questions

While studying abroad can be fun and enlightening, students often have many questions about the experience and how to prepare for it. If your question is not answered here, please schedule an appointment with the Office of Career Services and Experiential Learning.

Will my credits transfer back to Trinity?

Trinity only approves study abroad programs that are offered by accredited,  post-secondary institutions. All courses that are planned for study  abroad, must be approved prior to departure by the appropriate Department or Program Chair, and the Director of Career Services. Details about the approval process can be found in the applying to study abroad section.

How expensive is it to study abroad?

Studying abroad can be less or more expensive than Trinity, depending  on the location of your studies. While pricing is approximate, programs typically range from $10,000 – $15,000  per semester, and short-term, summer programs range from $3,000 –  $5,000.

Can my financial aid be used for study abroad?

Most federal financial aid, including Pell Grants and Stafford loans can be applied toward the cost of studying abroad during the fall or spring semester. Check with an Enrollment Services Counselor to see what aid may and may not be used for study in foreign countries. Also visit the US Department of Education for more information.

Are there other sources of financial aid for study abroad?

Some study abroad programs have scholarships and other forms of financial assistance available for qualifying students. Students are encouraged to inquire about these options during their search for a program.
