From President McGuire:
RE: Trinity is Closed on Friday, February 14
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!
Well, we really, really tried to think about being open tomorrow, and the campus is quite ready, thanks to our hard-working crews. But as we assessed the general conditions in neighborhoods, the likelihood of overnight freezing and more snow, and major school systems starting to close meaning children at home, we have decided that the most prudent thing for Trinity to do is to be CLOSED on Friday, February 14, tomorrow.
We are also closed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday due to the previously scheduled President’s Weekend holiday. We sure hope the snow has melted and sun is out by Tuesday, February 18 when we will reopen and be ready for spring to arrive immediately!
Meanwhile, I encourage faculty and students to continue the work of teaching and learning via Moodle when at all possible. I also encourage staff to do some work from home if possible since we want to keep the important business of Trinity moving ahead. With the wonders of modern technology there’s no reason why the outside freeze should also freeze our progress.
I also want to take this moment, once again, to recognize and thank our heroic crews in Facilities, Security and Food Service — they were here and doing a magnificent job all through the storm. Particular thanks to our Facilities personnel and to the Aramark team, the campus is in great shape, all roads and walkways are clear.
So with thanks to all, I wish you a safe, warm, dry and Happy Valentine’s Day, and restful President’s Weekend.
