Wednesday, January 22: Trinity will open at 12 Noon. This will give our facilities team time to clear the campus. Metro Shuttle begins service at 9:00 am. Please travel safely.
Message from President McGuire(sent via e-mail to All-Trinity Tuesday evening, January 21)
Due to the ongoing effects of the snowstorm, ice and bitter cold, Trinity will open at noon on Wednesday, January 22. Much as we’d like to have a full day, and as hard as our crews are working, the weather conditions are too difficult to plan an earlier opening. We believe we’ll be ready by noon and that travel conditions will ease by late morning. If that changes, we’ll certainly let you know.
Because a set of classes begins promptly at noon, I ask staff who are able to try to report a little earlier if possible so that our offices are open when students and faculty arrive.
We understand that conditions may be difficult in your neighborhoods and your safety is our top priority. So, while trying to get going with classes, if you feel you cannot come to Trinity tomorrow, we will respect your choice and I ask staff supervisors and faculty to be lenient in accepting absences as prudent choices in each case.
Faculty, if you cannot meet your classes at noon or later, please follow our course cancellation procedures.
We will make every effort to keep everyone informed as the day goes along. Colleagues from our senior team and I will be on campus early as usual and we will let you know if anything in this message needs to change.
Please join me in thanking our facilities staff who have been outside all day and into the night clearing the roads, walkways and parking lots. It’s still snowing so their work is considerable. Security staff also have been on their posts and I am grateful to them, along with our Food Service and residence life team. Thanks to all!
