Due to a campus water outage, evening classes for Wednesday, November 14, are cancelled.
Because of a water main break near the Science Building, water to Main Hall, Alumnae Hall, Science Building and Trinity Center will be shut off starting at 6:30 pm.
All classes are cancelled starting at 6:30 pm.
All personnel and students (except residents, see below) should plan to leave the campus no later than 6:30 pm since there will be no water in the affected buildings.
Residents of Main and Alumnae Halls: residence life staff will work with you to provide temporary overnight rooms in Cuvilly Hall. We regret this displacement, but because the water is out in your buildings, you cannot stay in the buildings. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with the staff.
The work crews need to shut off the water in order to excavate the broken pipe and replace it with a new pipe. The crews estimate this will take about 8-10 hours. We have every expectation that the water service will return by 6 am tomorrow morning.
Should there be any problem with restoration of water service in a timely way, we will send additional notices about classes tomorrow morning and access to the affected buildings. As of now, please assume that classes will go on as usual tomorrow and everyone should plan to report for work as usual.
