Tigers Earn Second In GU Holiday Classic

bballWashington, DC– Trinity University Tigers basketball team earned second place in the Gallaudet Holiday tournament after a hard fought championship game against Lehman College Saturday afternoon (82-75), at the GU filed house.

Trinity was outshot 44.4%-37.3% FG, 40.9%-19.0% FT, three-point, and 69.2%-60.0% FT. The Tigers dominated the boards earning 51 rebounds over The Lightenings 39. Down 70-54 in last eight minutes of the game, Trinity crawled back outscoring Lehman 21-12, but still came up short on the win.

Trinity was led by Freshman Blessing Hayes, led by freshman forward Blessing Hayes who recorded her second double-double of the tournament with an impressive 21 rebounds and 19 points.   Freshman Andrea Watkins recorded 19 points and senior Domonique Meriedy recorded 8 rebounds and 17 points.

Blessing Hayes and fellow freshman Andrea Watkins made the All-Tournament team after their impressive performances in the two day event.

Tigers return to action January 9th at Penn St. Abington for a 7:00pm match.
