Master of Arts in Counseling
Trinity offers two distinct specializations in counseling, both of which emphasize hands-on learning through laboratory and field experiences.
Trinity’s M.A. in Counseling degree programs will help you to understand the ethical, multicultural, socioeconomic, and developmental issues that counselors must deal with every day. Whether you want to counsel people directly, or to work as a consultant to help develop and evaluate counseling services, Trinity will provide you with the skills needed in today’s career field.
With smaller, seminar-style classes, Trinity offers a level of faculty-student interaction not found at larger schools. Convenient evening class schedules are designed with busy professionals in mind.

Specializations
Trinity offers two specializations within the Master of Arts in Counseling degree program, each preparing you for your new counseling career!
- In the Counseling concentration (60 credits), you will gain hands-on experience in local community mental health or social service agencies! The program fulfills the education component requirements to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. Graduates may apply to their local state licensing body to pursue. - If you would like a career as an elementary or secondary school counselor, the School Counseling concentration (48 credits) is designed for you! Through classroom, laboratory, and field experiences, you’ll become qualified to provide individual or group counseling, among other school counseling services. This program meets the certification requirements of the District of Columbia.
