Religious Studies & Theology
Explore the timeless questions of ultimate meaning and value. Because of its formative role in Western culture, Christianity serves as the point of departure for the academic study of theology; the Catholic tradition is a focus of the program, reflecting Trinity's own origins in the mission of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
Students of religion and theology undertake a thoughtful examination and critical analysis of specific religious beliefs, worldviews, and ethical norms. Through their studies, students can enhance their own concepts of spirituality and ethical frameworks, eliciting a firm commitment to justice and a sense of responsibility for the larger society.
Students study religion and theology at Trinity as a minor, or as elective courses.
Why Study Religion & Theology?
By studying religion and theology, students will be challenged not only to develop a deeper personal understanding of the interplay between religion and cultural institutions but also to act on that understanding through interreligious dialogue and works of justice and peace. The program is also beneficial for those students who plan to do graduate work in Religious Studies or Theology.
