Undergraduate & Graduate Degrees in Washington, DC

Philosophy

Philosophy explores the ideas, values, principles, and arguments through which we shape our lives and our learning. By studying a range of philosophies from Socrates and Plato through twentieth century existentialism, students develop the discipline and motivation to confront problems for which there are no easy answers.

Philosophy students also explore the issues of business ethics and bioethics that are of importance in today’s changing economy and medicine.

Students study philosophy at Trinity as a minor (with individualized minors in bioethics or environmental ethics available at the discretion of the program chair), or as elective courses.

Why Study Philosophy

Philosophy students are prepared for graduate study in philosophy as well as professions like law, the ministry and government service. Through experiential learning experiences at local social and medical organizations, students learn how their training in ethics and other philosophical genres can be applied to the real world.
