Lauren B. Engle is a Coordinator for External Relations
and Information at the International Organization for Migration
(IOM) in Washington, DC where she is responsible for office, U.S.
Government liaison, public information outreach, marketing and
training. Lauren also monitors the trafficking-related issues
in North America, coordinates training for governmental and nongovernmental
actors in migration issues, ensures upholding of gender sensitivity
in policy and programming throughout the North American region,
and coordinates speakers on issues of Women and Crisis.
At Trinity College, Lauren is an adjunct
faculty member in the International Migration: Women's and Children's
Issues certificate program. She teaches the certificate's entry
course, "The Feminization of International Migration: A World
in Motion and Its Impact on Women" and serves as lead advisor
for the program development.
Before coming to Washington, Ms. Engle
lived in Geneva, where she worked as a Publications Officer at
the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD)
and as a Freelance Editor for UNRID and UNICEF. Her affiliation
with the IOM started in 1995 when she held a position of the Press
Officer at the IOM's headquarters in Geneva. Lauren has also lived
in China, where she taught English at Qufu Norinal University.
She speaks French and Chinese.
Ms. Engle has a Master of Arts in Journalism
from Syracuse University and Bachelor of Arts in English Literary
Studies and Bachelor's of Arts in Music Performance, both from
Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Lauren's interests include golf, crew,
Tai chi, sailing and playing piano.
