James Sutton is a Senior Intelligence Research Specialist for the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as a former Special Agent of the FBI. He has an MA in Public Policy Analysis from the University of Illinois at Chicago and was associated with the Research Intelligence Analysis Program at Mercyhurst College, Erie, PA. Having served as a Vice President of Security Plans and Programs for a major bank, as well as Director of Asset Protection for a Fortune 100 corporation, Mr. Sutton's research interests are particuarly focused on protecting major enterprises from terrorism, sabotage, transnational crime, low intensity conflict; he is also is very interested in the methodology needed to mitigate the impact of these activities, such as contingency planning, threat modeling, and risk management. Collateral research interests include political activism, human rights, and Non Governmental Organizations. Mr. Sutton has conducted extensive in-situ research on Latin American insurgent and criminal organizations and has served as a consultant on these matters. He has authored a number of studies, reports, and monographs, including "The Subversion of a Government Monopoly: The Privatization of Intelligence." Mr. Sutton is a native Spanish speaker.
