A conference entitiled "Dominicans in America: Numbers, Status and Future" took place on Wednesday, 8 May from 9 to 5 pm at Trinity College (125 Michigan Avenue, NE) in Washington, D.C.

The Dominican Project of the North-South Center at the University of Miami (http://www.miami.edu/nsc/pages/DomR.html),
and Programs in International Affairs of Trinity College, Washington, DC
(http://www.trinitydc.edu/academics/depts/Interdisc/International/index.html), the conference focused on issues
related to the present and future socio-economic profile of Dominicans living in the United States. Particular attention was given to the results of the 2000 U.S. Census.

The conference brought together a group of knowledgeable and prominent scholars as well as heads of major community-based organizations serving the Dominican people in the United States.
