Description
Trinity College offers an interdisciplinary minor in
children, family, and public policy in the undergraduate
Weekday and Weekend College Programs. This course of study
offers students an opportunity to develop a specialization
of scholarly and professional value by focusing on such
areas as the social and psychological lives of children,
work and family issues, and the interaction between politics
and family dynamics. Students who develop a sophisticated
understanding of the role of public policy in family life
will be well-situated to develop related professional
careers.
Minor Requirements
Required Courses (6 credits)

- FOUR courses from those listed below; electives must
be selected from at least two disciplines.

If students wish to have a course not listed above
considered for the minor, they should present their request
in writing to the Program Chair.
Program Policies
- Advanced Placement and CLEP policy: As an
interdisciplinary program, the Children, Family, and
Public Policy program follows the policies of its
disciplinary components on issues applicable to this
minor.
- Grades in Minor Courses: Students are required
to earn a grade of "C" (2.0) or better in all courses
counted to fulfill requirements of the minor.
- Pass/No Pass: Courses fulfilling minor
requirements may not be taken pass/no pass.
- Senior Assessment: There is no formal senior
assessment for the minor, though students are encouraged
to take at least one of the 400 level courses listed
above.
- Study Abroad: Students may satisfy minor
requirements with courses taken during study abroad with
approval of program chair.
- TELL Policy: No more than 3 credits may be
earned for the minor through the TELL program. Students
must obtain prior program approval if they wish to earn
TELL credits toward the minor.
- Transfer Credits: Transfer credit from
accredited institutions may be counted toward the minor
with program review and approval. No more than nine
transfer credits may be counted toward the minor.
